FOCUS: Sauti Sol, this African POP group that makes the world dance

Sauti Sol this Kenyan group, made up of four childhood friends, is causing a sensation in the world.

Created in 2005 in Nairobi, Kenya by the singers Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano et Savara Mudigi. They were later joined by their house guitarist Polycarp Otieno.

The group releases their first album “Mwanzo”, November 1, 2008. This one was received positively by the critics.

“Sol filosofia” is the name of their second album which was released on February 25, 2011. In December 2015 the group released their album “Live and Die” which was downloaded for free 400.000 times within 48 hours. One of the best-known tracks on the album is “Africa”Featuring the Nigerian Diva Yemi Aladé.

Sauti ground is also this group which made dance the American President of Kenyan origin Barack Obama, during his visit to his country of origin.

Having received several international distinctions (Kisima Music Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards, MTV Europe Music Award for best African act and BET Awards 2015), Sauti Sol became more famous in Africa thanks to their hit “Melanine” featuring with Patoranking who registered more than 9.000.000 views on YouTube
