2. “Orah” – Tapiwa Chipfupa (Zimbabwe)

3. “The Three of Us” – Biyi Bandele (Nigeria)
Another film that caused a sensation was the one about fire Biyi Bandele, a renowned Nigerian director. “The Three of Us” examines relationship dynamics and questions of fidelity in a contemporary urban setting. The film stands out for its exploration of modern love life in West Africa.
4. “Paradise is Burning” – Mounia Akl (North Africa)
Although Mounia Akl is originally from Lebanon, her film addresses universal themes that resonate deeply in North Africa, including the issue of social revolt and struggles for freedom.
5. "I Told You So" – Nosipho Dumisa (South Africa)
This South African thriller captivated audiences with its complex plot and gripping storyline. Nosipho Dumisa, a rising director, explores justice, revenge and truth through a gripping investigation in a South African city.
These African films, rich in diversity and depth, demonstrated the continent’s growing importance on the global cinematic stage.
