Naira Marley 'in custody' over singer Mohbad's death

Afrobeats star Naira Marley has been taken into custody in the special investigation opened in September to elucidate the circumstances of the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad, the Lagos State police announced on Tuesday evening on the network social

Mohbad apparently had a serious dispute with Marley's production house, which led the ten police officers assigned to this matter to want to hear the boss of the Marlian Music label. It was to submit to their questions that Azeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) returned from Europe on Tuesday by plane. Naira Marley has been proclaiming his innocence for several days. He also published the following message on his digital channels:

“In recent days, my person and my reputation have been heavily criticized on a global scale due to the death of my former sign. All sorts of stories have been spun about me about his untimely death. I was not only in shock at the death of the deceased whom I considered my brother, but also at the various lies spread against me.”

Mohbad, real name Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, author of hit titles such as Feel Good, died in Lagos on September 12 at the age of 27, under circumstances that remain unclear. A special investigation has been opened. His death caused great emotion in Nigeria, where the singer was very popular, but also because numerous testimonies from fans and relatives claimed that he had been harassed and physically threatened for months by figures of the powerful music industry.
