Lagos State Police concluded an autopsy on the late Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of famed singer Davido, on Friday.
The autopsy is part of the inquests into the death of the three-year-old child, which occurred on Monday evening.
According to initial reports, the three-year-old drowned in his father's swimming pool at Banana Island, Lagos and was underwater for an indefinite period before being spotted.
The tragic incident happened days after his third birthday. Since then, the parents of the deceased have been silent.
Last Saturday, Lagos State Police Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin revealed details of the autopsy result: “The autopsy was concluded yesterday; he determined that the cause of death of the late Ifeanyi Adeleke was drowning. Currently, the investigation into the events that led to his drowning is still ongoing.”, did he declare. He further revealed that the conclusion of the autopsy would help the police in the ongoing investigation.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, police arrested eight Davido household workers in connection with Ifeanyi's death.
Hours later, police released six of the detained staff, while two, the late Ifeanyi's nanny and cook, were still being held for further questioning.
Police also said they were reviewing CCTV footage of the late Ifeanyi the night he died.
Mr. Hundeyin declined to name the police division where the household staff are being held for their safety. He said people might besiege the division and attract unnecessary attention.
