October 12, 2006 – October 12, 2022: 16 years ago Douk Saga, the creator of the coupé-décalé left the land of men.

On October 12, 2006, Douk Saga, the summit of coupé-décalé summits, left this world to create the atmosphere of its ancestors. Back on jaw-dropping national hero, the album that marked his consecration at the head of a movement of which he remains, forever the president.

Aged 32, Douk Saga had contributed, in the space of a life lived in accelerated, to reinvent African music by imposing, with his band, the "shifted cut" through David Monsoh, all at once dance, musical style and lifestyle. During his various concerts, he did the “work”, a term which consists in throwing cuts of banknotes on a person or an artist to encourage him. He did it on young spectators, which accentuated their love for him, the creator of the Offbeat Coupé.

His crew, the Jet-set, was made up of Douk Saga and others like Boro Sanguy, Lino Versace, Solo Béton, Bedel Patassé, Kuyo Junior and Le Molare etc.

They had the particularity of wearing very expensive and designer clothes, but also of valuing themselves or valuing others with “work”. With his group, Douk Saga leaves the memory of a brief and dazzling career, marked by the promotion of a hedonistic and casual model. He leaves three albums to posterity: Sagacité, National Hero and Ballon d'Or. His funeral was worthy of a true president.

This musical concept, which is an Ivorian cultural identity, is gaining ground thanks to the new generation composed of Serge Beynaud, Bebi Philip, Debordo Leekunfa, Arafat DJ, Safarel Obiang, Ariel Sheney.
