MHD released soon?

On July 7, 2020, a judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) reviewed the extension of MHD's pre-trial detention. Against the requisitions of the prosecution, he issued an order for release under judicial supervision, going against the requisitions of the prosecution. If the prosecution has appealed, the date of the hearing is not yet known.

MHD's arrest warrant is due to end soon, according to a source familiar with the case, and the artist could be released in two cases: if the hearing at the investigative chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal rejects the the prosecution's request for continued detention, or more simply if this hearing, the date of which was not yet known on Friday, took place after the scheduled end of the artist's arrest warrant. At the beginning of April, the court of appeal had kept MHD in detention, tested positive for the coronavirus, reversing a decision of compulsory release taken by the investigating judge.

MHD has been incarcerated in the Health prison since January 17, 2019 following his indictment by the courts for intentional homicide because of his involvement in a fatal brawl which resulted in the death of a 23-year-old young man stabbed after to have been attacked by a dozen individuals on the night of July 5 to 6, 2018 in Paris.
