CÔTE D'IVOIRE FIGHT AGAINST DEFORESTATION!

Since 1960, Côte d'Ivoire has seen almost all of its forests disappear. This is why the country decides to set up on November 15, 2019, the project “One day a million trees”By choosing as ambassador, the Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba.
This operation was set up after the disappearance of almost all Ivorian forests. The Ivory Coast wishes, thanks to this operation, cover at least 30% of the country by 2030. The project started with trees that have already been planted in Abidjan, the capital.

The reason for this massive deforestation? Côte d'Ivoire is the world's largest producer of cocoa. Following this intense production, the Ivorians have seen their forests grow from 16 to 2 million hectares in almost 60 years. A cocoa production that continues to wipe out Ivorian forests.
With the “One day, one million trees” project, the country hopes to recover eight hectares in 2045 in order to regain the forests of 1960 that Côte d'Ivoire had.

What do you think of this initiative?
