Lionheart, the Nigerian film disqualified at the Oscars

Lionheart, a Nigerian film directed by Genevieve Nnaji in 2018 has been disqualified from the Oscars 2020 in the International film category.

Why ? The film produced by Chinny Onwugbenu is entirely in English and partially in Igbo. English which is the official language of Nigeria following the colonization of the United Kingdom from 1914 to 1960.

The organization of the Oscars did not find it normal that the foreign film was mainly shot in the English language and therefore saw fit to disqualify the film from the category and therefore eliminate Nigeria's first opportunity to compete at the prestigious ceremony.

This disqualification provoked many reactions on social networks which qualified this decision as unfair and unfounded.

Do you find this disqualification legitimate?
