Barack Obama's letter in Homage to Nipsey Hussle

Former US President Barack Obama has paid homage to Nipsey hussle yesterday Thursday April 11, in a letter which was read during a memorial given to the late rapper.

« Dear friends and family of Nipsey:

I never met Nipsey Hussle, but I heard some of his songs from my daughter, and then he passed away. I had the chance to learn more about his transformation and his work with his community.

When some people saw gangs, bullets and desperation in the Crenshaw neighborhood where he grew up, Nipsey saw potential. He saw hope. He saw a community which, despite its faults, told him to always continue. His choice to invest in this community rather than ignore it - to build a vocational training center and coworking space in Crenshaw; to uplift the American-Eritrean community; to be an example for young people to follow - it is a legacy worth celebrating. I hope his memory inspires more good initiatives in Crenshaw and in the community like these.

Michelle and I send our condolences to Lauren, Emani, Kross and the whole Asghedom family and everyone who loved Nipsey. " Obama said in his letter, read aloud by hip-hop media personality Karen Civil, former partner of Nipsey Hussle.

They were 21000 at the Staples Center, the famous venue that hosts the games of the Los Angeles Lakers, the artist's core team, to say goodbye and thank him for all the actions undertaken for the well-being of his community in the city. town of Crenshaw.
