It's official. Missy Elliott will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the first female hip-hop artist.
The global icon, whose career spans two decades, has penned hits such as 'The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)', 'Work It' and 'Get Ur Freak On', and written for megastars like Whitney Houston, Beyoncé and Janet Jackson. Melissa Arnette (real name) is the third rapper to enter the Songwriters Hall of Fame after Jermaine Dupri (2018) and JAY-Z (2017).
A grateful Missy took to Twitter to celebrate her nomination.

Dallas Austin is also among the nominees. The Grammy-winning producer has produced hits such as TLC's "Creep" and "Unpretty," as well as Monica's "The Boy Is Mine," Gwen Stefani's "Cool" and Madonna's "Secret."
