And always with the aim of helping his continent, Akon has just announced the launch of a Cryptocurrency “Akoin” whose objective will be to boost "micro-trade and financial stability in Africa and beyond". “I think blockchain and crypto can be saviors for Africa in so many ways because it gives power back to people and it brings security back to the monetary system while allowing people to use it to move forward and not to allow a government to do things that leave them on the ground, ”he declared to the Cannes Lions.

The Senegalese government has granted it 800 hectares on which it will create "a city based 100% on cryptocurrency".
